HP: Govt declares 3-days state mourning to condole former CM Virbhadra Singh's death

Virbhadra Singh, fondly known as Raja Sahib, was a six-time chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, nine-time Member of Legislative Assembly and a five-time Member of Parliament.


The Himachal Pradesh government has declared three days of state mourning to pay respect to the former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, who died on Thursday morning due to post Covid-19 complications. In order to condole the Congress leader's death, the state government has decided to observe state mourning from July 8 to July 10. Earlier today, the mortal remains of Mr Singh were brought to his Shimla residence. The longest-serving Chief MInister of Himachal Pradesh was being treated for post-Covid issues such as pneumonia at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital in Shimla. The 87-year-old had diabetes and other health issues as well, said the hospital.
