On Saturday, 08 July 2023, a massive part of a road along the Jammu-Srinagar Highway caved in amid heavy rain, officials said.
The road connecting two tunnels on the highway was washed away after landslides.
The traffic was triggered by heavy rain.
Visuals of the massive cave-in have gone viral on social media today.
A traffic department official said work was going on to clear the road and repair the affected areas despite the rains.
"People are advised not to travel on the highway till the road is restored," the news agency PTI quoted him saying.
The Jammu-Srinagar Highway links the Valley with the rest of the country.
The weather office has predicted heavy rain across Jammu and Kashmir till tomorrow (Sunday).
