Hyderabad gang rape case: special court granted bail to main accused

Saduddin Malik, 18, granted bail for gang rape of a minor in Hyderabad

A special court dealing with the cases under the POSCO (Protection of children from sexual offences) Act in Hyderabad granted bail to the main accused in the gang rape of a minor girl. The special court granted Saduddin Malik the key accused bail on Wednesday. The gang rape case took place in the upscale Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad on May 28, 2022.

Saduddin Malik, an 18-year-old man is the only main accused rapist among other 6 juveniles in the case. Whereas four juveniles from the case were granted bail by the Juvenile Justice Board on July 26th and the fifth accused obtained bail from the Telangana High court on the very next day, July 27.

Just hours after obtaining bail the juveniles were released from the juvenile home in Kacheguda. The key accused Malik was lodged in Chanchalguda Central Prison and he walked out of the prison on Wednesday night. After Malik’s bail, all six accused in the gang rape case are now out on bail. This is terrifying as the alleged rapists are all out on bails, including the key accused.

Malik’s lawyers convinced the POSCO court that the Jubilee Hills police had already investigated and covered all the angles of the case and filed the charge sheet before Nampally criminal court. The lawyer argued that the accused had a right to bail as per the norms.

The Jubilee Hills police filed two charge sheets on July 27, covering a total of 600 pages. The police filed two charge sheets before the Juvenile Justice Board and the Nampally metropolitan court separately.
