Hyderabad Student Suicides Over Online Betting Losses

Online Betting Losses Drive Hyderabad B.Tech Student to Suicide

A 20-year-old engineering student in Hyderabad, Telangana, tragically took his own life after reportedly suffering financial losses from online betting games. The young man, enrolled in a B. Tech aeronautical engineering program at a private college, succumbed to increasing mental strain, as stated by his father.

He developed an addiction to online gaming, gradually transitioning to using online betting applications.

In his police complaint, the college student's father mentioned that his son had become ensnared by an online betting app called 1Win, resulting in significant financial setbacks.

Consumed by his addiction, the 20-year-old had borrowed Rs 3 lakhs from his friends, unable to repay them. Upon discovering the debts, his father intervened and settled them.

Despite his father's intervention and attempts to alleviate his mental distress, the young man tragically ended his life by hanging himself from a fan using a towel at his residence in the Gudimalkapur area.

A case has been registered by the Hyderabad Police, and they are currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
