Veteran actor who has a huge fan following in Bengal mesmerized the crowd by his speech and punchlines. He said while addressing the crowd, "Here is my new dialogue. Ami joldhorao noi, bele borao noi... ami ekta cobra, ek chobol-ei chhobi (Don't mistake me for a harmless snake, I am a pure cobra, one strike and you become a photograph." The crowd cheered for him during the rally. However, after Mr Chakraborty's 'cobra' dialogue, social media buzzed with several reactions and memes.

Mr Chakraborty was handed the saffron flag of the party by Mr Ghosh. He said that he had always wanted to work for the weaker section of the society and now the BJP has given him a platform to fulfill his wish. Mr Chakraborty, who earlier had close ties with Mamata Banerjee, was nominated to the Rajya Sabha by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in 2014. However, he quit from the Rajya Sabha in 2016 citing health issues.
