In connection to the benami properties case, the Income tax Department on Monday started recording Robert Vadra’s statement. A source from the IT department who is related to the probe said to a prominent private news agency that “An I-T team is at Vadra’s residence to record his statement in the benami properties matter.”

Robert Vadra is the son-in-law of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and is married to Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi. Vadra has been unable to join the investigation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He is also being investigated under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) by the Enforcement Department in relation to the allegation of money laundering in a London-based property purchase at 12. Bryanston Square worth 1.9 million pound and presently he is out on anticipatory bail.
