Idol immersion not allowed in public: Delhi Pollution body

No idol immersion shall be allowed in River Yamuna and violators shall be liable to pay rupees 50, 000 per default, according to the order.


The national capital has been witnessing a polluted environment after which the Delhi government is taking several measures to control the pollution.  

Meanwhile, idol immersion is not permitted in public, including Yamuna, said the Delhi pollution body. On Wednesday, Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) issued a detailed guideline for idol immersion, including a complete ban on immersion in public places such as water bodies, ponds, ghats and the Yamuna river.

As per the statement, the order said, "worship material like flowers, decorating material made of paper etc. be removed before immersion of idols and may be collected separately for disposal and in an environmentally safe manner and be handed over to the door to door waste collection vehicles." Adding more, "No idol immersion shall be allowed in River Yamuna. Violators shall be liable to pay rupees 50, 000  per default, to be deposited with DPCC."
