If required, Delhi may witness restrictions ahead of the festival

Omicron alert!


On Monday, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said his government will impose restrictions if required. Due to the upcoming festivals of Christmas and the arrival of a new year, the public rush may be increased in the capital city. 

 

According to the statement given by Delhi chief minister he said, the Delhi government is fully prepared with the omicron variant of the Covid and he is in constant touch with the experts. Further said, "if need be, we will impose restrictions. At present, there is no need for restrictions. We are in constant touch with the experts and if any restriction is to be imposed for the safety of Delhi, we will do that." Adding more the CM also said, "The government is fully prepared. I have conveyed multiple review meetings regarding oxygen supply, beds, and medicines. We do not want an omicron crisis in Delhi but even if it comes, we are prepared." 

 

The Delhi government has speeded its preparation with the arrival of new variant Omicron, also the World health organization (WHO) called it a "variant of concern" As per the information, Delhi currently has a storage capacity of 790MT of oxygen. The National capital has so far reported two cases of Omicron. The first case was reported on December 5 and the second case was reported last week.

 

As per the information, the Delhi government said that it has also trained a total of 15,371 healthcare workers, including 4,673 doctors,1,707 medical students,6,365 nurses, and 2,726 paramedics to curb emergencies related to medical terms.
