IIT Delhi Receives Rs 1 Crore To Set-Up Fellowship

On the occasion, a book titled ‘Development and Sustainability- Third World Challenge’ authored by Prof Chaturvedi was also disclosed.


 Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) received Rs 1 crore from the Vipula and Mahesh Chaturvedi Foundation to set up 'Vipula and Mahesh Chaturvedi Distinguished Fellowship'. The fellowship aims to “attract outstanding talent from outside India with cutting-edge expertise in research area”. Each fellow will be provided with an annual amount of Rs 12 lakh and will be awarded for five years. The fellowship agreement has been signed between Vivek Pathak, Trustee, Vipula and Mahesh Chaturvedi Foundation, and Professor V Ramgopal Rao, Director IIT Delhi.

The foundation had earlier been established as ‘Vipula and Mahesh Chaturvedi Chair in Policy Studies’ at IIT Delhi. Mr. Mahesh Chaturvedi who retired from IIT Delhi in 1986, is now a globally recognized pioneer of water resources engineering in India. He is also a fellow member of the International Water Resources Association and the Indian National Academy of Engineering.

On the occasion, a book titled ‘Development and Sustainability- Third World Challenge’ authored by Prof Chaturvedi was also disclosed. Addressing the ceremony, IIT Delhi, Mr. Pathak said The Chaturvedi Foundation recognizes that over the years IIT Delhi's growth has been synonymous with the growth in both quality and quantity of its faculty. Chaturvedi Foundation carries on with IIT Delhi in making the performance better, with a scheme to facilitate attracting talented people to the institute. It also connects with the best researchers from around the world.
