A BTech Student died by suicide in Madras
On 14 March 2023, a third-year student of BTech at IIT Madras committed suicide in the afternoon at the Alakanda hostel room.
As per the information received by the police, the deceased was identified as Vaipu Pushpak Sree Sai, a resident of Andhra Pradesh.
Pushpak's friends suspected him when he didn't attend his yesterday's class and decided to reach his room to find out the reason, but when they arrived, they found the room locked from the inside, and Pushpak didn't respond to them. They somehow managed to open the room and found him hanging.
They informed the police about the incident, and the body was sent to Royapet government hospital for a postmortem examination by the police.
Following the incident, the institute decided to look into the case through an internal inquiry committee. They further mentioned their condolences to Pushpak's family and friends.
Further investigations are underway.
