Depression takes shape over the Bay of Bengal!

The India meteorological department (IMD) predicts heavy rainfall in Odisha till august 10.

On Sunday, very heavy rains lashed parts of Odisha and the weather department has warned of more downpour in the state and neighbouring West Bengal over the next two to three days.

According to the Met office, a depression is set to take shape over the Bay of Bengal.

A low-pressure area, which formed on Saturday, concentrated into a well-marked system over the northwest Bay of Bengal, off the coasts of Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh, the Met office said.

A red alert of extremely heavy rainfall of over 200 mm has been issued for some places in Odisha's Kalahandi and Rayagada districts till Monday morning, the Met office said, adding that the monsoon trough was passing through Jharsuguda.
