IMD predicts rainfall in Delhi today

Light to moderate showers in the capital city on Saturday and Sunday.


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts showers in the National capital this weekend. 

 

As per the statement given by forecasters it said, the air quality is likely to improve during the weekend as the winds blowing into the capital city will change from westerly to easterly from Saturday under the impact of western disturbance which will lead to showers in the city on Saturday and Sunday.

Adding more, the forecasters also predicted that from Monday, the temperature in Delhi NCR will start reducing. And the falling temperature and northwesterly winds carrying stubble smoke could lead to worsening air quality. 

 

The capital city witnessed two days of rain in the previous week which led to clear skies but after it, the city is again witnessing an increase in its pollution level. Also, Knowing about the Air Quality Index (AQI) on Friday the AQI in the capital city was 170 which comes under the moderate category.  

The capital city is in the limelight with an increase in its pollution level. National capital witnesses a rise in pollution with the arrival of winter. The Delhi Government has also implemented several initiatives to curb the spread of pollution in the city. Few initiatives such as the" Red light on, gaddi off" campaign are running by Delhi Government. Meanwhile, two smog towers have been installed at the hub of the city at Connaught place and Anand Vihar in Delhi.

 As per the Safdarjung observatory, the temperature was 33.3 degrees Celsius, two above normal, whereas the minimum temperature was 17.7 degrees Celsius.
