Protest have raised in Iraq after a YouTuber was killed by her father which sparked outrage, Iraqis are demanding justice and law against domestic violence.

 

On January 31, Tiba al-Ali, 22, in southern province of Diwaniyah, killed by her father, Interior Ministry spokesman Saad Maan confess, adding between young woman and her father there had been an attempt to mediate and her relatives to solve a "family dispute". 

 

The father later surrendered and confessed his crime to murdering his daughter to the police.

 

Dozens of people from protesting outside the country's Supreme Judicial Council, prevented by security forces, and they gathered instead at a road leading to the building. 

 

Some protesters held placards labelling “Stop killing women" and "Tina's killer must be punished".

 

"We want law to protect women, especially laws against domestic violence," protester Rose Hamid, 22, said. 

"We came here to protest against Tiba’s murder and against all others. Who will be the next victim?”

 

Lina Ali, another demonstrator, said: “We will continue mobilizing because of increasing domestic violence and killings of women.”

 

Till today, there's no law in Iraq criminalizes domestic violence. In 2014 a first draft domestic violence law was introduced to parliament.
