Inauguration of Delhi's New Chandni Chowk cancelled due to rise in Covid-19 cases


Chandni Chowk is one of the beautiful and oldest markets not only in Delhi but also in the country, well known for its historic beauty was set to be inaugurated but due to the rise in Covid-19 cases, the inauguration of Delhi's new Chandni Chowk has been cancelled. It was to be inaugurated by Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on 17 th of April.

According to the report by the PWD Ministers office, it stated that there is a lack of clarity on whether the inauguration would be held at a later date and added that this is to be noted. that the renovation and beautification work of the iconic Chandni chowk has already been completed.

As per the tweet earlier CM, Kejriwal said that It is a historical heritage site and the entire area has been made very beautiful, seeking to bring back the glory of this old historical place. After the beautification of Chandni chowk, tourism would get a major boost and people coming to Delhi would be attracted  to pay a visit to Chandni Chowk".

The redevelopment work that started in 2018 December was supposed  to be completed by 2020 November but it got delayed due to the Covid-19  pandemic
