Search Operation for Overnight....

On Tuesday BBC'S Delhi and Mumbai offices searched by New Delhi Income Tax officials and seized phones and laptops, due to a massive controversy over the UK national broadcaster's documentary  on Prime Minister Narendra Modi which put up questions on deadly riots in Gujarat 2002.

The offices sealed off for a "survey" by taxmen linked to alleged diversion of profits and irregularities in transfer pricing involving the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation).

Account details of far back 2012 have been checked by Income Tax authorities, sources said. Whole night the survey will continue till next day.

BBC tweeted, "in New Delhi and Mumbai the Income Tax authorities were at the offices and we were fully cooperated".

Phones and laptops of journalists there were taken away and documents were also seized. After six hours the employees were allowed to leave, in condition when there laptops had been scanned. Visuals showed some employees argued with the officials.

The Supreme Court rejected the request for a complete ban in BBC in India due to a documentary last week, calling the petition "entirely misconceived".
