INDIA DELAYS VISA OF PAKISTAN-BORN AUSTRALIAN CRICKETER

KHAWAJA MISSED HIS TEAM FLIGHT

India delays visa for Usman Khawaja, who is an Australian opener born in Pakistan, he has missed the team's flight for their four-test tour due to visa delay, Cricket Australia (CA) said.

Pakistan-born batsman was the only player in Australia's squad who had not board the flight to India on Wednesday, because his visa had not arrived in time, a CA spokesperson said.

A meme online posted by Khawaja from popular Netflix series Narcos where infamous drug lord Pablo Escobar sits on a garden chair staring into space, along with the caption, "Me waiting for my Indian Visa like....#stranded #dontleaveme #standard #anytimenow".

On Wednesday CA was expected the visa to arrive later and said Khawaja had been booked on a flight out on Thursday.

On Thursday some team support staff are also flying.

"He was not born in Australia", Khawaja said in 2011 he was denied entry into India. However, he has visited India several times.

Since partition in 1947 Pakistan and India have had fraught relations and in sports those tensions have routinely stayed.
