The $13bn project, linking Mumbai and Delhi


First longest expressway has inaugurated by India, which is linking Mumbai and Delhi, the $13bn (£10.8bn) project will reduce the road travel time between two biggest cities of the country's, in half, to 12 hours.

India is one of the world's most populated country and fastest growing economy, however its infrastructure is still not developed like its northern neighbour.

The new four-lane carriageways have signe of "Welcome to Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai expressway", a route that stretched 1,386km (861 miles).

On Sunday the first stage of 24km opened by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which links Delhi with the tourist city Jaipur in Rajasthan. He said it is a "sign of developing country", adding in it "it is a key to push country to increase growth rate by investing in railways, highways, subway lines and airport, and create employment".

One of the world's largest railway networks has in India, giving employment to 1.3 million people, however it is badly outdated and require a huge investment in track and rolling stock, private capital with authorities to do so.
