India, Pakistan Agree To Cease Cross-Border Firings Along LOC

Cross border firing to cease along LOC, India Pakistan militaries agreed.


The militaries of both India and Pakistan said today that they have agreed to stop all cross border firings along the Line of Control (LOC) in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) where in the recent months such firings have been doing rounds frequently which often results in killing and injuring people living in these areas.

Referring to the military operations head of both countries a joint statement stated “In the interest of achieving mutually beneficial and sustainable peace along the borders, the two DGsMO agreed to address each other’s core issues and concerns which have the propensity to disturb peace and lead to violence.”

In the year 2003 India and Pakistan had signed a ceasefire agreement along the LOC but in recent years the truces have been fraying. An official spoke to a prominent news agency and declined to name himself because of the sensitivity o the matter where he said “We are cautiously optimistic that the violence level and tensions along the LOC will come down” he added that India will not ease up on deployments that aim to stop infiltrations or counter insurgency operations in Jammu Kashmir.

The troops of India and Pakistan were locked in their cross border fighting for at least two years amid the rise in the coronavirus pandemic.
