Saudi Arabia Sent Oxygen Tankers For India amidst Covid crisis


Saudi Arabia has come forward to support India's critical situation of Covid  by transporting 80 metric tonnes of liquid oxygen tankers as the country's recent situation is running low on supplies of oxygen and health infrastructure due to an unprecedented spike in coronavirus cases.

On Sunday, India recorded 3,49,691 new infections cases in a day , taking its total tally of COVID-19 cases to 1,69,60,172. The death rate increased to 1,92,311 with a record 2,767 daily new fatalities, per the Union Health Ministry data shown.

The shipment of oxygen cylinders is being undertaken in cooperation with the Adani group and Linde company. Indian mission wrote on social media that "Embassy of India is proud to partner with Adani group and M/s Linde in shipping much-needed 80MT liquid oxygen to India. Our heartfelt thanks to the Ministry of Health Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for all their help, support, and cooperation,”.

On Saturday, the Indian Air Force (IAF)  brought four cryogenic tanks, to be used for shipping oxygen, from Singapore. As per the sources, the oxygen containers were airlifted from Singapore by C17 heavy-lift aircraft of the IAF. Home Ministry spokesperson tweeted on social media that the aircraft "with 4 cryogenic containers for storage of liquid O2 from Singapore landed at Panagarh airbase" in West Bengal on Saturday.
