India bans 43 Chinese Mobile Apps Under Section 69A of Information Technology Act.


The Central government of India announced to block the access of 43 chinese mobile apps by users in India, under section 69A of the Information Technology Act. The Government of India along with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology banned 59 chinese mobile apps on June 29, 2020 furthermore blocked 118 more apps on September 2, 2020. These blocked apps included popular apps like TikTok, PUBG Mobile and WeChat etc but this time it includes apps like Alibaba and AliExpress which comes as a major blow to Chinese economy.

According to an official statement, “This action was taken based on the inputs regarding these apps for engaging in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order. The government issued the order for blocking the access of these apps by users in India based on the “Comprehensive reports” received from Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center, Ministry of Home Affairs.”
