"India surviving on system created by Nehru-Gandhi": Shiv Sena slams Modi govt

The Sena took a dig at the Centre and mentioned that Bangladesh had sent 10,000 Remdesivir vials to India while Bhutan had sent medical oxygen and Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka had also offered help to 'aatmanirbhar' India.

The Shiv Sena on Saturday slammed the Modi-led government by saying that while smaller neighbouring countries are lending a helping hand to India during the Covid crisis, the Modi government is busy with the work of the multi-crore Central Vista project in Delhi.

The Sena said in an editorial in its Marathi-language newspaper 'Saamana' that the UNICEF had expressed fear about India posing a threat to the world due to the Covid that was spreading at an alarming rate in the country. It had also made an appeal to other countries to provide help to India in the fight against COVID-19.

The Sena took a dig at the Centre and mentioned that Bangladesh had sent 10,000 Remdesivir vials to India while Bhutan had sent medical oxygen and Nepal, Myanmar, Sri Lanka had also offered help to 'aatmanirbhar' India. "In clear terms, India is surviving on the system created by Nehru-Gandhi. Many poor countries are offering help to India. Earlier, countries like Pakistan, Rwanda and Congo used to get help from others. But due to the wrong policies of today's rulers, India is going through that situation now," it said.

The party slammed the central government for accepting aid from countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan during the Covid crisis while on the other hand it is not ready to stop work on the multi-crore Central Vista project. It also took a dig at the Centre by saying at the time when experts have predicted a third wave, the BJP is finding ways to corner Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal.

The Sena thanked the previous governments of Pandit Nehru, (Lal Bahadur) Shastri, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, PV Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh for their development works and projects that have helped the country survive during such tough times. It added that only a sensitive and a nationalist government would not have thought of the political pros and cons and would have set up a national panel of all main political parties to discuss ways to defeat the pandemic.
