Indian Family Killed in Suspicious Canadian House Fire

Suspicious Fire Claims Lives of Indian-Origin Couple and Daughter in Canada

On March 7, a fire in Ontario, Canada tragically took the lives of an Indian-origin couple and their teenage daughter. The devastating news was reported on Friday after the family's remains were identified.

The family lived in the Big Sky Way and Van Kirk Drive area of Brampton.

Investigators, according to news agency PTI, stated that upon their arrival at the scene alerted by a neighbor, they were initially unable to determine the exact number of fatalities.

Once the fire was extinguished, investigators discovered what they believed to be human remains at the scene.

The family has been identified as Rajiv Warikoo, 51, his wife Shilpa Kotha, 47, and their daughter Mahek Warikoo, 16.

Local media reports indicated that the police were still unable to determine the cause of the fire and classified it as 'suspicious'.

A police official was quoted in a report saying, "At this time, we are investigating this with our homicide bureau, and we are deeming this as suspicious as the Ontario Fire Marshal has deemed that this fire was not accidental."

The police, in a press release, reiterated their commitment to investigating the deaths of the three family members and urged individuals with any information to step forward.
