Indian Student Shreyas Reddy Found Dead in the US

4th Incident This Year


Another Indian student was found dead in the US on Thursday, making it the fourth such incident this year and the third in just a week.

 

Shreyas Reddy Beniger, a 19-year-old student at Ohio's Linder School of Business, was found dead. According to officials speaking to NDTV, Shreyas, with parents in Hyderabad, held an American passport.

 

Officials have confirmed that there is no suspicion of foul play or a potential hate crime in this case.

 

The Indian Mission in New York has expressed distress and mentioned an ongoing investigation to determine the cause of Shreyas Reddy Beniger's death.

 

The Indian Consulate in New York expressed deep sadness over the passing of Mr. Shreyas Reddy Benigeri, a student of Indian origin in Ohio. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), they stated that a police investigation is ongoing, and at this point, foul play is not suspected. The Consulate is in regular contact with the family, providing all possible assistance.

 

Earlier this week, Neel Acharya, a student at Purdue University, was discovered dead after being reported missing by his mother on Sunday. A body found on the university campus was later identified as that of Acharya.

 

Neel Acharya's mother, Gaury, sought assistance on social media to locate him. She mentioned that he was last seen by an Uber driver who dropped him off at the campus.
