IndiGo Passenger Assaults Pilot on Delhi-Goa Flight Amid Delay

Passenger Detained Following Disturbing Incident on Board

During a troubling incident, a passenger on an IndiGo Airlines flight assaulted the pilot while he announced the flight's delay on Sunday. A video of the occurrence on the Delhi to Goa flight gained traction on social media, depicting an angered passenger in a yellow hoodie running towards the pilot and striking him.

Despite the efforts of air hostesses to restrain the passenger, he can be heard telling the pilot, "Nahi chalana toh mat chala, bol de (If you don't want to fly the plane, then don't)." In response, a flight attendant intervened, stating, "Sir aap aisa nahi kar sakte (Sir, you cannot do this)." The video captures other passengers expressing shock and agitation, while a man in a blue hoodie attempts to calm the situation at the end of the footage.

Following a complaint filed by IndiGo Airlines, the passenger has been detained, as confirmed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). The DCP has pledged to initiate suitable legal action against the accused.

IndiGo has established an internal committee to address the incident, as reported by ANI citing airline officials. Actions, including the possibility of placing passengers on the 'no-fly list,' are reportedly being considered in response to the incident.

The incident occurred amidst significant disruptions in flight operations across North and Central India, attributed to poor weather conditions caused by dense fog. On Sunday, the persistent thick fog in the national capital lasted for nearly 11 hours, resulting in extended waiting times for thousands of passengers.
