A flight headed to Guwahati from Mumbai had to make an emergency landing in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, due to fog near the destination airport, as reported on Saturday, January 13.

"Flight 6E 5319, en route from Mumbai to Guwahati, was unable to land in Guwahati due to dense fog. Instead, officials stated that it made an emergency landing in Dhaka."

Passengers, lacking their passports, remained seated inside the flight at Dhaka airport after the emergency landing, attributed to fog around the Guwahati airport, as per officials.

What did Indigo say?

IndiGo flight 6E 5319, originally bound for Guwahati from Mumbai, was diverted to Dhaka, Bangladesh, due to adverse weather conditions in Assam's Guwahati.

An alternative crew is being organized for the Dhaka to Guwahati leg to address operational requirements. Passengers were kept informed and provided with refreshments on board, according to a statement from IndiGo.

The airline stated that the incident occurred late Friday night.

A passenger aboard the Guwahati-bound flight shared on social media that the diversion to Dhaka was due to "dense fog." The passenger noted that all individuals were inside the plane as they lacked passports, mentioning this on Saturday.

Suraj Singh Thakur, an All-India Congress Committee delegate and former state Youth Congress working president, stated, "I took IndiGo flight 6E 5319 from Mumbai to Guwahati. But due to dense fog, the flight couldn't land in Guwahati. Instead, it landed in Dhaka."

Suraj Singh Thakur mentioned, "Now all the passengers are in Bangladesh without their passports; we are inside the plane."
