Interstate Drug Smuggler Arrested

Mandsaur police arrested an interstate drug smuggler and seized 65 kg of opium worth Rs. 6.5 crores. This is Mandsaur Police's biggest action against opium smugglers till now.

Mandsaur SP Anurag Sujania said that the police get information through an informer that a 10 -wheeler truck RJ43GA5582 carrying bamboo was coming towards Mandsaur check post.

The truck driver is a vicious smuggler from Jodhpur, who is carrying illegal opium in large quantities by making space in the cabin of his truck along different routes from the North East about 3000 km away from different states.

The police got the information that he had been doing drug business for many years, but till date the police could not arrest him. After getting the information, the police barricaded the number 10 block on the Mhow-Neemuch highway.

On seeing the truck, the police team tried to stop it. The smuggler tried to run away, but due to the tight blockade, he was caught along with the truck there. The police searched his truck intensively.

They found 13 packets of 65 kg of illegal opium wrapped with tape in the cabin under the seat behind the driver's seat, which were duly seized from the possession of accused Shravan Kumar, a resident of the district of Jodhpur. The accused was arrested so far.

Accused Shravan Kumar told the police during interrogation that he had been doing illegal business of selling opium in large quantities from the North East region and to Rajasthan for several years.
