Israeli Army shot Palestinian teen

Israeli soldiers have been occupying Jenin and killed a teen on Sunday

The 17-year-old, Palestinian teen identified as Kamel Alawneh was shot dead on Sunday by the Israeli forces in the occupied west bank. The health ministry reported that Alawneh “succumbed to wounds from live fire by the occupation [Israeli army] in the abdomen and hand in Jenin”.  In an interview with the AFP, a Palestinian medical official told the agency that Alawneh was brutally wounded in Jaba village in the Jenin governorate north of the West Bank.

The injured teen was immediately taken to the hospital by locals after his clash with the Israeli force. He was taken to the Ibn Sina Medical Centre in Jenin where he was operated, and the doctors later declared him dead.

Haaretz reported that, the Israeli army in defence accused Alawneh of throwing a Molotov cocktail at the soldiers and that they shot in retaliation. However, he had no substantial proof to claim his statement.

In the attack, no Israelis were harmed. According to the Palestinian politician Hanan Ashrawi, Kamel Alawneh was named after his deceased brother. His brother was also murdered by the Israeli forces in 2003. Dr Ashrawi took it to Twitter as she expressed her disappointment and saying, “Compound agony, endless #IsraelisCrimes”.

Since March, the Israeli forces have killed a total of forty-nine Palestinians across Israel and in the Palestinian territories.

Israeli forces have been intensively raiding the Jenin area over the past months. On Wednesday, they murdered another a 23-year-old Palestinian citizen, Muhammad Maher Marei, in a fire in Jenin.
