Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday admitted a security lapse and suspended four cops over failure to stop the terror attack at a local urban body meeting in Sopore in which two councillors of the Sopore Municipal Council and a policeman were killed. “There has been some security lapse in the Sopore attack. There were four PSOs (personal security officers) present and had they retaliated, the militants would not have succeeded in their efforts,” Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar said, according to Deccan Herald.

On Monday, two terrorists had forced themselves into the civic body office and opened fire after the councillors had gathered for the meeting, reported NDTV. After the attack, the terrorists managed to escape the spot. Police said four PSOs were equipped with AK-47 rifles but none of them opened fire when the civic body office came under attack.
