J&K: Two army pilots die as helicopter crash-lands in Udhampur

The locals rescued the injured pilots and rushed them to the hospital but both succumbed to their injuries.

Two pilots succumbed to their injuries after an Indian army helicopter crash-landed near Patnitop in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. According to the officials, both pilots of the Army Aviation helicopter, Cheetah, sustained severe injuries in the crash.

The locals rescued the pilots and rushed them to the hospital. One of the deceased was a captain, while the other one was a major, said the army officials in a statement. Reportedly, their families were being informed.

The Northern Command of Indian Army tweeted on Twitter that Major Rohit Kumar and Major Anuj Rajput "made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on 21 Sept 2021 at Patnitop" and paid condolences to the families of the deceased. The incident occurred around 10:30 am on Tuesday.

This is second such incident as another army helicopter had crashed a few weeks ago in Jammu and Kashmir. Last month, two pilots died after their helicopter crashed into Ranjit Sagar dam and the body of one of the pilots has not been discovered yet.
