Jallikattu competition in Tamil Nadu

23 people were injured in the competition...


Approximately 23 people were injured in a bull taming sports, jallikattu competition held in Pugailaipatty, in Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu.

 

As per the information received by the official, a large number of bull tamers participate in the Jallikattu and Manjuvirattu competition held in different part of South Tamil Nadu including Madurai and Alankanallur. 

 

The competition held every year on the occasion of the St. Santhyakapar and Sebastian temple festival especially in Pugailaipatty of Dindigul district.

 

Following the information the district SP of Dindigul Bhaskaran mentioned that nearly 490 bull were registered online for the competition but only 483 participated.

 

He further added that the medical team examined 214 tamers and allowed only 25 per round.

 

In the competition the tamers were supposed to hold the horns of the bull and tame it as they tries to shrugs them off.
