Jammu and Kashmir Administration Fires 11 Employees Over Allegedly Terror Link

Those fired from service, 4 are from Anantnag, 3 from Budgam, and one from Baramulla, Srinagar, Kupwara and Pulwama each.


The Jammu and Kashmir administration has dismissed eleven of its staff, including sons of Hizbul Mujahadin chief Syed Salahuddin, for allegedly operating as overground employees (OWGs) for terrorists, officers mentioned on Saturday. The fired employees are from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the education, agriculture, talent development, power and health departments Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), officials said.

 Among those sacked, Syed Ahmed Shakeel and Shahid Yousuf, are Salahuddin’s sons, whereas one was employed with the SKIMS, the other was working for the education department. Explaining their termination, officials said the National Investigation Agency (NIA) tracked terror funding trails of the duo, and found them concerned in raising, recovering, assembling and transferring funds through non-banking transactions for terror activities of their father’s organization.

Officers explained however the action was suggested against those sacked from service. “The selected committee within the Union territory, which scrutinises such cases, in its third associated fourth meeting suggested the dismisses of 3 and eight staff, respectively, from government service,” they explained, adding that of these recommended for dismissal within the third meeting, one was allegedly an OGW for the Lashkar-e-Taiba whereas the other 2 were found concerned in “anti-national” activities.

From the eight employees recommended for dismissal in the fourth meeting, officers said, two were constables in the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and allegedly provided information and provision support to the terrorists
