January 16 Will Be Celebrated As National Start-Up Day, Announces PM Narendra Modi

PM made this announcement during video conferencing


On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an interaction with more than 150 startups declared that January 16 will be celebrated as National Start-up Day. He made this statement via video conferencing while interacting with them. This event comes under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

 

According to the statement given by The Prime Minister, “start-ups are going to be the backbone of new India. When India completes 100 years of independence, start-ups will have a significant role. Country's innovators are making the country proud globally."

 

He further noted that “this decade is being called as 'techade' of India...to strengthen the innovation, entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystem have important aspects like liberating entrepreneurship, innovation from govt processes, bureaucratic silos.

 

According to ANI, the Amrit Mahotsav is a week-long event "Celebrating Innovation Ecosystem”. The event is being hosted by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, from January 10 to 16.

 

The intercourse aims to appreciate how start-ups can provide for national needs by driving inventions in the country. According to the information, more than 150 start-ups have been divided into six working groups based on themes including Growing from Roots; Nudging the DNA; From Local to Global; Technology of Future; Building Champions in Manufacturing; and Sustainable Development."

 

According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), it said, "This was reflected in the launch of the flagship initiative Start-up India in 2016. The government has worked on providing an enabling atmosphere for boosting the expansion and development of Start-ups."
