Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga due to visit India

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga is planning to visit India later this month to have talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The dates are not finalized yet as the Covid cases in India have registered a spike.

Japan is seeking to reaffirm cooperation over its vision of a “free and open Indo- Pacific” region through a trip, government sources told Japan’s Kyodo News Service.

Suga, who is scheduled to visit the United States for talks with president Joe Biden next week is now seeking to further solidify the framework by meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Suga and Modi are expected to discuss further tie-ups in outer space and cybersecurity, as well cooperation on infrastructure projects and other economic issues.
