Japanese woman harassed on Holi...

3 boys apprehended by Delhi police...

Three boys, including one juvenile, were apprehended by Delhi Police in connection with an incident of harassment during Holi. According to the police, the search for those boys began after a video of a Japanese woman being harassed by a group of boys on the pretext of applying colours to her during Holi went viral on social media platforms.

"The boys in the video were identified through meticulous efforts by field officers and local intelligence. Three boys, including one juvenile, were apprehended and questioned. "They have confessed/admitted to the incident/happening depicted in the video," said Delhi Police in a statement.

The incident occurred in Delhi's Paharganj neighbourhood, and the woman initially posted the video on Twitter, which was later deleted. She is currently in Bangladesh and is 'fit in her mind and body,' according to her most recent tweet. According to the statement, neither the Delhi Police nor the Japanese embassy received any complaints from the woman.

The men groped her and smeared colours on her in the viral video. An egg was even smashed on her head by one of the men. As seen in the video, the woman struggled to leave the gang of men. However, she kept saying 'bye' 'bye' in an attempt to leave that group. She smiled briefly for the camera before slapping one of the men and leaving the scene.

Action has been taken against those apprehended under the Delhi Police Act. "Further legal action will be decided on the merits and in accordance with the girl's complaint, if any," it stated.

Bollywood actor Richa Chadha and Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal are among those who reacted to the video and called it a 'completely shameful behaviour'. Rekha Sharma, chairperson of the National Commission for Women, had previously written to Delhi Police requesting that a 'immediate FIR be filed in the matter'.

"Sickening. The woman is required to notify NCW "Khushbu Sundar, a member of the National Commission for Women and a BJP leader, tweeted his support.
