JDU’s Nitish Kumar Sworn In As Bihar CM.


The President of the Jananta Dal United (JDU) on Monday evening was sworn in as the Chief Minister (CM) of Bihar. The oath taking ceremony saw 14 leaders of the NDA alliance- 7 from the BJP, 4 from the JDU and 1 each from the HAM and VIP, who took oath as the new cabinet ministers of Bihar. JDU is in power for the fourth straight term and Nitish Kumar is the seventh time Chief Minister in the state of Bihar.

Along with Nitish Kumar BJP leaders Renu Devi and Tarkishore Prasad also took oath and will be serving as deputies at Bihar’s CMO (Chief Minister’s Office). The freshly elected Bihar cabinet ministers consist of: Renu Devi (BJP), Tarkishore Prasad (BJP),  Bijenday Prasad Yadav (JDU), Ashok Kumar Chodhary (JDU), Mewa Lal Choudhary (JDU), Sheela Mandal (JDU),  Santosh Manjhi (HAM), Mukesh Sahani (VIP), Mangal Pandey (BJP), Amrendra Pratap Singh (BJP), Ramprit Paswan (BJP), Jivesh Mishra (BJP) and Ram Surat Rai (BJP)

Nitish Kumar’s oath taking ceremony took place in the presence of top BJP leaders including the Home Minister Amit Shah and party president JP Nadda. The RJD and the Congress boycotted the ceremony claiming the mandate in the elections was “against the NDA” and it had been changed by a “fraud”.

The Bihar CM after oath taking said the NDA government ‘will work together and serve the people’. He also addressed about the BJP’s decision to not induct the former deputy CM Sushil Modi in the cabinet this time. Soon after the sworn in ceremony was over there were congratulatory wishes from top political leaders of the country, starting from the PM of India Narendra Modi who tweeted saying ‘NDA would work together for the progress of Bihar’ and the Center would lend ‘all possible support for the welfare of Bihar’.

Opposition leader Teajashwi Yadav also took to twitter and took a sarcastic dig at the Bihar CM. “Good wishes to the honorable Nitish Kumar on being ‘nominated’ as the chief minister. I hope instead of fulfilling your ambitions you will fulfill the aspirations of the public and fulfill NDA’s promise of 19 lakh jobs, and make employment, health, income, irrigation his priorities”.
