Jharkhand medical student's body recovered from dam

A 22-year-old woman's body was found by the locals on Tuesday whose hands and legs were tied, said the police.


A medical student's body with her hands and legs tied was recovered from the Patratu dam in Ramgarh district of Jharkhand. According to the police, the 22-year-old was a student of the Hazaribagh Medical College and was a resident of Godda district. The body was discovered by the locals on Tuesday who informed the police about the incident. Prima facie police suspects that the woman went to the Patratu Lake Resort which is along the dam with her friends as it is a famous picnic spot, the officials said.

AV Homkar, Deputy Inspector-General of North Chhotanagpur Division said that a Special Investigation Team has been formed with officers from Ramgarh and Hazaribagh police to investigate the matter. He also said that they will examine the case from all angles and also check the possibility of rape. The police said that along with the body they also found a bag near the spot. The deceased's family reached Ramgarh after being notified by the police about the mishap. On enquiring the college authorities, the police said that she was last seen on Monday morning after which she left for Ranchi around 9 am.
