Jharkhand reopens schools for classes 6 to 8

Attendance shall not be mandatory for students to attend offline classes and parent's consent is mandatory for such classes, said the officials.

As Covid-19 cases are slowing down in a few states across the country, the states are under the unlocking procedure. Many states have reopened schools as well as colleges and other services like religious places, public fairs, exhibitions, offices and many more things.

The Jharkhand government on Thursday permitted the schools to reopen classes 6 to 8 from September 20.  Whereas during the unlock process, the state has also been permitted to reopen religious places outside the containment zone.

According to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), "Attendance shall not be mandatory for students to attend offline classes. And prior consent of the guardian shall be mandatory for students to opt for offline classes."

Meanwhile, schools and educational institutions have been closed for the past two years and online education is not feasible for every child to opt for and to be able to understand via this mode. The government also urged the people to follow appropriate Covid-19 behaviour and follow proper social distancing in their respective areas.
