JNU: name change?

Clearing the doubts regarding JNU name, No proposal for JNU name change, says union minister Ramesh Pokhriyal.

Over the past few years, names have changed in the country, from railway stations to cities and fruits. Now the matter has arisen about the prestigious and popular Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) located in Delhi. Is the central government also going to change the name of JNU? In this regard, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank (Nishank) has given information in Lok Sabha.

Last year, the General Secretary of the BJP (CT Ravi BJP) proposed that the JNU be renamed after Swami Vivekananda. He tweeted in November 2020 that 'it was Swami Vivekananda who stood up for the ideology of' India '. His philosophy and values reflect the strength of India. Therefore, it would be right to name Jawaharlal Nehru University after Swami Vivekananda. The generation coming from the life of this patriotic Mahatma of India will be inspired. '

Now on Monday, 08 February 2021, a question was asked in the Lok Sabha that 'Does the government have any proposal to change the name of JNU? In response to the question asked in the Lok Sabha whether the government had any proposal for changing the name of the university in Delhi, Union Education Minister Nishank said “No sir”.
