Judge Who Ordered Survey In The Gyanvapi Case Transferred To Bareilly

The transfer was ‘routine’ as sources claim!

The Varanasi civil judge Ravi Kumar Diwakar, who ordered the video survey of the Gyanvapi mosque earlier this year, was transferred to Bareilly on Monday evening.

He is among the 121 civil judges (senior division) who have been transferred by the Allahabad High Court to different districts of Uttar Pradesh. In total 619 judicial officers have been posted.

Hence, sources claimed the transfer of Judge Diwakar as ‘routine’. They said that there was no link with the sensitive Gyanvapi Mosque case that he was hearing.

All judicial officers will have to hand over their charges after this transfer latest by July, 4. The survey ordered by the judge was done during the month of May.

As Judge Diwakar had ordered a video survey on the petitions made by five Hindu women asking for access to pray at the Shringar Gauri Sthal at the Gyanvapi Mosque complex in Varanasi.

The registrar general of the Allahabad High Court, Ashish Garg had issued this notification of transfers.

So far, judge Diwakar had also claimed that he had been receiving a lot of death threats during the hearing of this case ever since the survey orders. The Uttar Pradesh government had further upgraded his security thereafter his claims of being threatened.

The next hearing of the Gyanvapi case is supposed to be held on July 4. The Court in this upcoming hearing would be hearing arguments from the Muslim side.
