Karnataka govt to temporarily suspend vaccination for 18-44 age group from Friday

The Karnataka government has said in a statement that it will temporarily suspend the Covid-19 vaccination for people who are between 18 and 44 years of age from May 14, Friday. According to the statement, all government Covid vaccination centres in Karnataka will have to follow the order.

The statement read the state government has decided that all vaccines including the vaccines supplied by the Government of India (GOI) to the state and the vaccines that are procured directly by the state for the vaccination of people who are between 18 and 44 years of age, will be utilised by the state government for vaccination of beneficiaries who are due for the second dose.

The statement added that till further orders, those between the age group of 18-44 years including those who have already booked appointments to get vaccinated, will be temporarily suspended from May 14, 2021. Earlier, the Karnataka government had decided to utilise the entire supply of vaccines that was provided by the central government for vaccination of beneficiaries who were due for the second dose and come under the category of 45 years and above.
