Kerala Cabinet Agrees To New Liquor Policy

It will promote the export of foreign liquor...

The Kerala Cabinet has given it's approval for the new liquor policy for the year 2023-2024.

The policy mainly focuses on promoting the export of foreign liquor from Kerala. The state government, for that matter, will be making amendments to the existing export fees.

The policy also proposes to provide foreign liquor in IT parks and industrial parks in the state.

However, the details will be worked out later in consideration with the departments related to this.

According to the police, the tourist zones and restaurants will be allowed to serve beer and liquor during the ongoing tourism season.

This will include foreign and domestic tourists all together.

The government has also decided to enhance the bar license fees from Rs. 30-35 lakh.

On Thursday, July 27, 2023, Excise Minister MB Rajesh said that the state has decided to rebrand as Kerala toddy and promote it as the state's natural alcoholic beverage.

Luxury hotels and resorts in tourism zones will be allowed to tap toddy from palm trees inside their premises to serve their guests.
