Kerala to reopen educational institutes from 4 October for final year students: Kerala CM

The CM also said those eligible for the second dose should take the jab as soon as possible .


Schools and colleges have been closed for more than two years. Covid-19 had led to the closure of schools and colleges across the country. Whereas several states have reopened their educational institutions with their guidelines.

Kerala is among the most-affected states across the country with a record of maximum number of Covid-19 cases. The state is witnessing more than 20,000 daily covid-19 cases. On Tuesday, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said all higher education institutions, including technical, polytechnic and medical will be allowed to reopen from October 4 for final year students.

During a press meet the CM said, “Therefore, all final year students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, faculty and staff must take the first dose of vaccine this week itself.” Adding more he said those eligible for the second dose should take the jab as soon as possible.

According to the state government release, on Tuesday, Kerala witnessed 25,772 new COVID-19 infections which took the overall tally to 42,53,298 with 189 fatalities that took the death toll to 21,820.
