Kidnapped Hyderabad dentist rescued from Andhra Pradesh

Dentist was also into real estate business and was kidnapped for ransom.

A doctor of Hyderabad-based Kismatpur Dental Hospital, Dr. Behjaat Hussain, who was kidnapped by five unknown kidnappers, from hospital on Tuesday afternoon at 1 pm was rescued by the Anantapur police near Rapthadu in the early hours of Wednesday.

Alerted by Telangana Police that the kidnappers were proceeding towards Bengaluru in a Mahendra Balero, Anantapur police set up watch on several roads including the Hyderabad-Bengaluru highway. A police team spotted the jeep near Rapthadu toll plaza around 2 am and intercepted it.

Hussain was kidnapped by five burqa-clad men when he was getting ready to go home for lunch. The kidnappers confined him in an unidentified location in Hyderabad and spoke in Marathi. The kidnappers beat up Husssain’s assistant Syed Salman and dumped him in the washroom who later managed to escape from the clinic and informed Hussain’s family. The dentist’s wife then complained to Rajendranagar police station.

“Since Hussain is also into real estate business and made big money, the kidnappers targeted him. They reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs 10 crore through Bitcoins,” Dr. Satya Yesubabu, Superintendent of police, Anantapur.

Sources in Cyberbad Police said five to eight members were involved in the kidnapping. While five persons abducted the dentist Tuesday, they handed him over to four persons who were taking him to Bengaluru or nearby towns.

Officials said the kidnapping could be a fall out of the financial dispute that the doctor allegedly had with his business partners.
