Kundara Johny: A Malayalam Film Icon passes away at 71

Due to a Heart Attack...


Kundara Johny, a prominent actor in Malayalam cinema, has passed away at the age of 71 due to a heart attack. He was admitted to a private hospital in Kollam after suffering the heart attack on Tuesday evening, as reported by PTI. The FEFKA Directors' Union confirmed the news in a Facebook post.

 

Kundara Johny, the renowned actor known by his stage name Johny Joseph, leaves behind his wife Stella, who serves as a college professor in Kollam.

 

Kerala Finance Minister K N Balagopal expressed his condolences over the actor's passing, noting that Johny, with a career spanning over four decades, appeared in more than 500 films.

 

Johny was celebrated for his powerful portrayals of antagonistic characters in Malayalam cinema. His career began at the age of 23 when he made his debut in the 1979 Malayalam film "Nithya Vasantham," where he impressively embodied a 55-year-old character.

 

"Meppadiyan," released in 2022, marked his final film.

 

In his extensive film career, Johny was part of many acclaimed movies, including 'Godfather', 'Inspector Balram', 'Aavanazhi', 'Rajavinte Makan', 'Oru CBI Diary Kurippu', 'Kireedom', 'Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha', 'Samooham', 'Chenkol', 'Aaraam Thampuran', 'Varnapakittu', and numerous others.
