Lajpat Nagar Central market shut for violating Covid-19 rules

Delhi's Lajpat Nagar Central market was shut down for violating Covid-19 rules and has been closed until further order. DDMA said that, if Covid-19 appropriate behaviour is not maintained then it will be liable to be closed and its owner may face prosecution under relevant laws.


After the closure of Laxmi Nagar Market. Now, Lajpat Nagar Central Market, which is a well known Shopping hub has been closed until further order due to violation of Covid-19 norms in the market.Whereas the markets in Laxmi Nagar, Kisan Kunj, Guru Ramdas Nagar have finally opened after closing for three days. Meanwhile, the Punjabi Basti and Janata Markets in the Nangloi areas have been shut till July 6.

According to the statement given by,Shalesh Kumar, Sub Divisional Magistrate (Punjabi Bagh), "Amid the possibility of a third wave of Covid-19 pandemic and considering gross violation of existing health protocols  under Covid appropriate behaviour in these markets, the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Punjabi Bagh Under DDMA Act,2005, do hereby order for shutting down the entire market of Punjabi Basti and Janta Market, Nangloi from July 4 to 6."

According to the statement given by Delhi Disaster Management Authority(DDMA), if the norms of Covid-19 appropriate behaviour are not maintained by any shop, then it will be liable to be closed and its owner may face prosecution under relevant laws." Whereas DDMA also directed  Covid-19  appropriate behaviour including the use of face masks and social distancing should be maintained properly in the public spaces, markets, malls and shops.
