Lakhimpur Kheri violence: Union Minister's son Ashish Mishra denied bail

Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra was denied bail by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Lakhimpur Kheri, Chinta Ram on Wednesday. Ashish Mishra is one of the accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case in which eight people died, including four farmers on October 3.

The Uttar Pradesh Police has also arrested two more persons who have been sent to judicial custody of 14 days, reported Live Law. They had appeared before the SIT for questioning.

Ashish Mishra and his alleged accomplice Ashish Pandey had moved their bail applications on Wednesday but were rejected by the local court, said Senior Prosecution Officer (SPO) SP Yadav.

Farmer bodies have alleged that Mishra had mowed down the protesting farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh. He had appeared before the Crime Branch office on October 9 and had been arrested after 12 hours of interrogation.
