Largest cough syrup racket busted...

35 suspected members arrested in Orissa...


The Bolangir police of Orissa arrested as many as 35 people allegedly in connection with the largest cough syrup racket under the Mission cough syrup drive.

 

As per the information, the Eskuf syrup bottles that were illegally transported and sold in the Bolangir and nearby districts got seized by the police during the arrest.

 

Following the incident, the SP of Bolangir, Nitin Kushalkar, stated that the team worked round the clock as the modus operandi of the gang is to distribute the syrup mostly at early hours of 3 a.m., 4 a.m., and 5 a.m.

 

He further added that they have arrested the prime accused, Prashant Kheti, and will arrest the other mastermind of the plan, Sana Negi.

 

The police also seized one country-made pistol, one vehicle, two pick-up vans, two motorcycles, Rs 7,500 in cash, gold ornaments, and 17 mobile phones.

 

They had also frozen an amount of Rs. 2 crore that belonged to the supplier company, M/s. Daffodils Drugs Pvt. Ltd. of Kolkata.
