Light rainfall in Capital gives AQI to the "Moderate" category

Delhi and NCR received moderate rainfall


On Sunday the Delhi and NCR region received moderate rain in the city and the adjoining areas of the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had also predicted moderate rain on Sunday. Whereas, the city witnessed showers.


 

As per the statement, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Isolated places of west, northwest, southwest, south, southeast Delhi, Noida, Faridabad, Gangoh, Yamunanagar during the Next 2 hours."


 

After witnessing a shower in the capital city. The city is witnessing a clear sky with an Air Quality Index (AQI)  took a shift towards moderate category.  As per the data by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) the air quality index was 144.


 

Knowing about the Air Quality Index (AQI) category and reading. The AQI between 0 to 50 is considered good, 51 to 100 is satisfactory, 101 to 200 is moderate, 201 to 300 comes under poor, 300 to 400 is very poor and 401 to 500 is severe.


With the arrival of the winter season, the process of stubble burning takes place in nearby states of Delhi - NCR which leads to a polluted environment in the capital city. The pollution level increases gradually during the Diwali festival due to the burning of firecrackers as well.  The Delhi Government has implemented several initiatives to curb the spread of pollution and also waterlogging has become one of the major problem after the city witnesses heavy rain, which even creates several problem in commuting.
