LPG Cylinder cost hiked by Rs.50

The recent price hike in petrol and petroleum products is due to a sharp increase in global energy prices as a result of the Russia - Ukraine situation that has led to supply worries.

The hike has come at a time when people are still struggling to cope with the rising price of petrol and diesel across the country.

The price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders for domestic use has been hiked by Rs50 in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and other cities, oil marketing companies said in a notification on today May, 07. LPG cylinders prices vary from one state to another, due to state wise taxes imposed on them. The central government, however, provides a small subsidy to select customers to make up for the higher price arising from freight charges. Each household in India is eligible for 12 Cylinders per year under the government's subsidy scheme.

On May 1, oil marketing companies organized more than 5000 LPG panchayats on the occasion of Ujjwala Diwas, where apart from experience sharing, aimed at safe and sustained usage of LPG, all out efforts were made to maximise customer enrolment.
