On Monday, The Indian Air Force (IAF) will introduce its first batch of indigenously-developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH), in a boost to its combat prowess as the multi-role platform is capable of firing a range of missiles and other weapons.

Today the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will attend the induction ceremony of the first indigenously developed light combat helicopters (LCH) in Rajasthan's Jodhpur .

Taking to his Twitter handle, the defence minister said the induction of the helicopters would be a big boost to the IAF’s combat prowess.

The LCH, developed by state-run aerospace major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), has been primarily designed for deployment in high-altitude regions.

As per the information, It will be inducted into the IAF inventory at a ceremony in Jodhpur in presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, officials said on Sunday.

According to HAL, the light combat helicopter is the only attack helicopter in the world that can land and take-off at an altitude of 5,000 metres (16400 ft) with a considerable load of weapons and fuel, meeting the specific requirements of the Indian Armed Forces.

The helicopter is equipped with the requisite agility, manoeuvrability, extended range, high altitude performance and around-the-clock, all-weather combat capability. It would be a potent platform to meet the operational requirements of the Indian Air Force and Indian Army.

The defence ministry had said 10 helicopters would be for the IAF and five will be for the Indian Army.
